A breast lift is performed to raise and reshape sagging breasts by removing excess skin and repositioning remaining tissue and nipples. Some women may find it necessary to have breast implants in order to gain the fullness in the upper chest that is desired. Scars on the breast may be as minimal as a scar just around the areola (nipple), although some may experience more extensive scarring due to medical conditions of the breast.
The initial recovery from a breast lift is generally three to seven days. Full recovery takes approximately six weeks. Activities may need to be limited during this six week period after the Breast Lift. The actual breast shape will change over the first six to twelve months after a Breast Lift, which is a very normal process as your body adjusts to new more shapely breasts. In Arizona Dr. Shapiro requires a baseline mammogram before your breast lift surgery to assist in detecting any future changes in your breast tissue. Dr. Shapiro will go over your health history and any medical conditions you may have. As with any surgery, risks and benefits will be discussed. Following Dr. Shapiro's instructions before and after Breast Lift surgery will minimize these risks. Some instructions include quitting smoking, avoiding certain medications, and arranging to have help following your breast lift surgery.
